As you’re using the computer, numerous processes run in the background. To view them you could use the built-in Task Manager (access it by pressing Ctrl + shift + Esc or Alt + Ctrl + Del). Some of the processes running in the background could be attributed to spyware, Trojans, viruses and other malware. The Spyware Process Detector detects all running processes and assesses their danger. Then it displays their threat rating to you.

The Spyware Process Detector installation file of only 1.0MB will be downloaded to your computer in a blink, should you decide to give this application a try. The next step is to install Spyware Process Detector on your Windows-powered machine; it can be installed on any 32 or 64-bit edition of Windows, from Windows 2000 up to Windows 7. A setup wizard will guide you through the whole process; it won’t take long to complete.

The first time you run Spyware Process Detector you will be presented with something that looks like a blank, white window. The white part is where all running processes are displayed; but to view them, you must click the Scan button. Once you do that, Spyware Process Detector will rapidly identify, analyze and display all running processes. The processes are color coded: green for safe processes, white for normal ones, and yellow for suspicious ones.

Spyware Process Detector also displays startup items. There’s a small tab in the right hand side that lets you switch between running processes and startup items.

You can access more information for all the processes that Spyware Process Detector detects, mark processes as safe, stop, load, delete, or block processes, set process priority, and add processes to the startup.

I mentioned above that you can view running processes with the built-in Task Manager. Spyware Process Detector has an option to replace the aforementioned Task Manager. And since we’re talking about options, there are options to pop up Spyware Process Detector when it detects dangerous, altered and suspicious processes and when it detects dangerous, altered, suspicious, and new startup items.

In the hands of an advanced or expert user, Spyware Process Detector can help identify spyware, Trojans and viruses that other security tools may miss. The application detects, analyzes, and displays all running processes.

Pros

Lightweight download and simple installation process; can be installed on just about any 32 or 64-bit Windows edition. Multilingual support for the simple, easy to use interface. Displays all running processes and startup items. Color coded processes based on their threat level. Block dangerous processes, mark safe ones as safe.

Cons

Free to try for a 14-day evaluation period. The inexperienced users may stop or block a genuine process that is not dangerous.
